Washington Let's go to college- A project with awesome dream!
We usually hear a saying that goes: "if there is a will there is a way." Same thing has been once
proven by some of our fellow Bhutanese Students in Washington.
Understanding the need of awareness, encouragement, and support for further education in newly
adjusting Bhutanese community in this great state of America, our fellow friends have had
introduced a goodwill project so called- "Washington let’s go to college." Here is brief introduction
of this project and its need in our community.

introduced a goodwill project so called- "Washington let’s go to college." Here is brief introduction
of this project and its need in our community.
Mission
Aware high school students the importance of college education
Who are we?
We are a very small group of committed Bhutanese students trying to make a difference in the lives of current and upcoming high school Bhutanese (not limited) students by motivating, mentoring, influencing, and guiding them to make a proper use of post high school educational opportunities awaiting them. We are “GO TO COLLEGE PROJECT.”
What are we doing?
· Talking about college and academic careers
· Helping students prepare for standardized college entrance exams
o ACT/SAT/ and other subject test
o HSPE
o End of course assessment
o AP
· Working with students on their college applications, personal statements, essays and scholarships
· Connecting participating students to different education resources
· Homework or other special project help as needed
Why are we doing?
Because….
o We’ve learned that a huge proportion of current high school Bhutanese students are in verge of not being able to graduate from high school due to their deficiency in various State\School District requirements, set aside them being able to be accepted into universities.
o We’re, technically, the first generation of high school graduates among resettled Bhutanese in the State of WA, so we wanted to celebrate this privilege by leaving behind an awesome educational environment to those following us, so that they can rebuild on our efforts to establish a civilized Bhutanese Community.
o We care!!!
Our Long Term Goals
o To establish a culture of getting a college degree among Bhutanese students
o To increase the ratio of Bhutanese students in colleges and Universities
Where and How?
The project will only run on weekends (obviously, we’re all busy on weekdays). We’ll gather at two different venues in Kent and Tukwila. The probable venues are: World Relief Kent and REWA in Tukwila. World Relief Kent is considering our request but hasn’t confirmed yet. We’re yet to talk to REWA seriously. We’ll start the project as soon as we confirm our meeting room for each week.
We Need….
o BCRC's support to encourage parents.
o Good participation and involvement of all our High School Friends
Visit and join us at face book !

Our High School Graduates: Class of 2011
We remember how important SLC exam and its outcome were to students, parents, and to the whole community back in the Camps. SLC was considered as the milestone for higher education, and for successful future. Here at USA High School Graduation is almost related to School leaving Certificate (SLC), which has its own importance and magnitude.
