Inter-City Knockout Soccer Tournament 2011 in Washington |
One day
Bhutanese Inter-City Knockout Soccer Tournament 2011 successfully ended after
Tukwila A Team had finally seized the opportunity to own the trophy of the
winner from the Everett Team at Washington on July 9 2011. Seven different
Bhutanese teams from six different cities around Washington were gathered in
the playground at Valley Ridge Sport Complex, SeaTac, WA.
Highest Scorer of the tournament, Prem Khadka's hat-trick smoothed the path for Tukwila A to claim for the trophy. Team caption, Yawan Tiwari from the Everett Team was announced as “Man of the Match", whereas, SeaTac/Burien Team was honored with Fair-Play Team of the Tournament.
Around 200 Bhutanese and local audience watched and cheered the tournament throughout the day. Before the distribution of award and trophy, all audience and players mourn for a minute or so to pray and remember our three deceased Bhutanese boys. Finally, one senior from Bhutanese community handed trophy, medals, and certificates to the teams and the players. Meanwhile, new Solo Album “Intro” Creation of the Bhutanese artist Sagar Rai was also introduced to the public.
Tournament was sponsored by Bhutanese Family of WA, and organized by Bhutanese Youth of WA along with Tukwila family. Tournament was aimed to select best player from each city to form a strong soccer club of Bhutanese in Washington. Being the winner, Tukwila again takes an initiative to organize next year’s tournament. Tournament coordinator: Birendra Khadka,Treasurer: Pralhad Gurung, Selection chief: Laxmi Sangrula and Event anchor: Lila Kafley .
